Yatrus fortress is located near the village of Krivina (municipality Tsenovo). It was built in IV century and was an important Roman military unit in the area of Lower Danube. There were discovered remains of a Roman and early-Byzantine town which was destroyed by the Avars in the beginning of the VII-th century.
Over its ruins in the VII-VIII century there was arose a Bulgarian village, protected by massive stone wall and towers. After excavation in 1958 there was found the East gate, public and private buildings, two old Christian basilicas, lots of iron swords, ceramics, gold coins from the X-th century, tools and more.
