Old tower
The clock-tower is located in the center of Berkovica at one of the corners of Yordan Radichkov square.
It is one of the oldest clock towers in Bulgaria (built 1762 - 1764) which have working clock-mechanism.
The tower impresses with a solid construction. It is 21.24 meters high and has a clean architectural lines. The square body (11.80 meters high) was built of stone from the nearby village of Gintsi. Stones are cemented with mortar.
Inside it are mounted the bell and the clock, which is handmade by Bessarabian Bulgarians in city of Bucharest and was brought in 1764. In the past the Turkish authorities were placed there metal emblem - and crescent flag. On December 4, 1877, a Russian soldier covered it with a bronze cross as a symbol of the victory over Turkey.
The tower is declared monument of culture.
