In July 2012 in city of Bourgas was started a new "roller coaster" attraction with a route to the reserve "Atanasovko Lake" (one of the richest of birds places in Bulgaria). This is the first and only to this moment, tourist route "The Life of the Burgas Lakes" specially designed for lakes Vaya, Atanassovsko and a set of ponds Mandra-Poda. The route was restored on the initiative of BDZP, helped by the Municipality of Burgas and the Black-sea salt-cellars.
The "Train of the Salt" moves along the rails of the salt-mining and allows visitors to see places where for more than 100 years salt was extracted - by solar evaporation of seawater. Besides the unique walk among white salty mountains the tourists can visit more 12 more places among the lakes of Burgas, where was created a special infrastructure for recreation, as well as custom-built platform for bird watching.
The train will run during the summer season - from April to September.
