Southeast of town of Kotel, left to the road to village of Gradets, stands a magnificent stone statue of the Bulgarian Khan Krum and his warriors. It represents a composition of three figures (the khan and two warriors) holding swords. The statue was erected to glorify Khan Krum`s victory over the Byzantine Emperor Nicephorus in 811 year.
