Boyuk Kale fortress
"Buyuk Kale" Fortress (aka "Big Krepcha Kale" and "Dere kale") is located in the locality of Ryakata, 5km southwest of the village of Krepcha. It is situated on a large rocky hill above the left bank of the little river of Kalakoch dere.
The fortress covers an area of 5 decares and has the shape of a wedge. From the west and south the fortress was protected by fortified walls (around 2 m. wide). From the eastern side (where Kalakoch gully is located), the fortress was naturally protected by steep cliffs. Most likely there were towers also at the corners of the walls. The gate was located on the south wall, near by a tower, and there was a path leading to the Kalakoch dere river.
Today the castle is in ruins and remains of the treasure-hunter digs, although in 1969 it was declared a cultural monument.
