Demir Baba Teke is an Alevi turbe (religious complex / tomb) from XVI century, located South-West from village of Sveshtari (no far away from Sveshtari tomb). It was and is a sacred place for Thracians, Christians and Alians (type of Muslim religion).
It is believed that turbe contains the grave of Alevi saint of 16 th century Demir Baba but Christians accepted him as their saint. Nowadays the complex is a cult monument revered by both Christians and Muslims.
According to legends in region to the Demir Baba Tekke in different periods there were an ancient Thracian settlement, Bulgarian consecrated ground and monastery consecrated ground and St. George.
