"Rayskoto Praskalo" Waterfall
"Raiskoto Praskalo" waterfall (aka Kalofersko praskalo) is located in the Jendema natural reserve of the National park "Central Balkan" (Stara planina mountain). It springs almost from the very Botev summit and is the highest waterfall on the territory of Bulgaria and also on the whole Balkan peninsula (125 meters). The area can be reached on foot only, and usually the starting point is locality of Panitzite near the town of Kalofer (4 hours walk).
The waterfall is very beautiful and impressive ("raiski" in Bulgarian language means "heavenly") and attracts many tourists, especially during spring and summer months when it is most abounding in water. There are well-marked eco-paths nearby and one hut - "Ray" ("Paradise"). The cliffs and rock pinnacles around attracts lovers of rock climbing.
In 1965 the Waterfall "Rayskoto Praskalo" was declared a natural monument of Bulgaria.
