The Trun Gorge (also known as Lomnishki Gorge) is a gorge on River of Erma, located 3.5 km north of the town of Trun, near the village of Lomnitsa. Erma River runs through the territory of Serbia and Bulgaria and is entering at BG territory near the village of Strezimirovtsi and leaving the country with a picturesque gorge near the village of Petachintsi.
Rocks of the gorge are over 100 meters high. There is a bridge from where the tourists can enjoy of the unique beauty of Trun Gorge.
From the southern part of the gorge is created an eco-route, which is 13 km long. Another starting point for the eco-trail is from village of Bankya, near which is located theYablanishki Gorge.
The legend tells that once a beautiful girl called Mara and her beloved Rangel lived here. Mara came from rich and honoured family, while Rangel was very poor, and the girl’s family did not like him. So they decided to run away, but Mara’s mother laid a curse on them and the mountain broke in two. Mara and Rangel remained on the opposite sides. Even nowadays the river cries, telling the sad story of the two young people.
Trun Gorge of Erma river is included in the list of "The 100 national tourist sites of the Bulgarian Tourist Union".
