The first ZOO in Stara Zagora was established in 1957. Till 1960 it already has more than 40 animals.
In the early 70s was began construction of the current ZOO. It is located in the park "Ayzmoto" and covers an area of 70 acres.
Currently there are more than 400 animal of the approximately 80 species of mammals, birds and amphibians. There can be seen animals from almost all continents: brown bear, deer, antelope, deer, lynx, wolf, fox, tiger, yak, raccoon, jaguar, llama, lion, ostrich, emus, parrots, reptiles and more.
The ZOO has a long tradition in the breeding of brown bear. Recent years here were born pretty bears, which now enrich the collections of other zoos in Bulgaria.
Working time:
April-October (summer)
Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 am. to 17:30 pm.
Wednesday to Sunday from 8:30 am. to 19:00 pm.
November - March (winter)
from 8:30 to 17:30.
