The winter folk custom "Surva" in village of Chepino exists more than two centuries. It is held every even year at 13  and 14 January (it is the New Year day in the old style).
There are different groups which performed diferent dances - wedding group, bell group, gypsy group, etc. Typical for this custom is that preparation for it is all year round.
About the Surva holiday
On the evening of January 13 the "sourvakars" play their dances around the burning fire on the village square. In the morning of 14 January they starts to tour the houses in the village and dance for health and prosperity .
There are lots of fun, fireworks, orchestra folk music, songs and dances .
