The Regional Historical Museum in Pernik was established in 1953. It has a rich collection of historical objects from the Middle Ages and ethnographic materials related to the traditional Bulgarian culture.
The Pernik museum has following collections:
- prehistoric pottery
- urban lifestyle in the Middle Ages (the materials are from the fortress Krakra)
- votive tiles of the Thracian horseman - from the sanctuary in Tsarkva village
- Church icon collection
- numismatic collection
- ethnographic collection
- English and Russian weapons from anti-fascist struggle
