Ski center Aleko, Vitosha, Sofia

The ski resort Aleko in mountain Vitosha is situated in the immediate vicinity of the capital Sofia, only 22 km south from the center of the city and is easy accessible by gondola lift (6.27 km) from quarter of Simeonovo or by car (from quarter of Dragalevtsi). Snow cover here lasts at least 150 days and the average annual temperature is 3.3 C.

Aleko is the principal tourist and winter sports centre on Vitosha and is Bulgaria`s highest ski resort. It provides ski runs, lift facilities, ski and snowboard schools, accommodation facilities, restaurants, etc. which have turned this spot into an international winter sports center. There are also equipment for artificial snow and night skiing. The oldest and most popular ski run is Stenata ("The Wall"), while the longest and most difficult one is "Vitoshko Lale".

Nowadays Aleko is among Bulgaria`s top ski resorts together with Bansko in Pirin Mountain, Borovets in Rila Mountain, and Pamporovo in Rhodope Mountains.
