Centuries-old tree (Oriental plane), Gurmen

This centuries-old tree is located in village of Garmen, half kilometer away from its center, and is one of the main landmarks of the village. The tree is a representative of the Oriental plane (Platanus orientalis) species, and is more than 600 years old. It is 24 m high and 10,46 m in girth.

In 1961 the Oriental plane in Garmen was pronounced protected due to its age, size and beauty. The tree won the contest "A tree with roots", Bulgaria 2010 of the foundation "Eco-community".
