Museum of the Honey

The "Museum of honey" near village of Kosharitsa is the only of its kind in Bulgaria. The museum was founded in 2001 by Kiril Kirov - a beekeeper from the village, and is located in his courtyard.
There the guests can see tools and equipments used from ancient time till nowadays for the production of honey. There are shown different types of hives, used by the people in the past and nowadays. For example one of the bee houses was made in the hollow of an old tree, another is woven from branches like a cage walls and sealed with mud.
Among the old types of hives there are also modern as the unique hive made of glass, where anybody can observe the life processes in a bee family. Point of interest for the guests are the artistic hives - models of churches "St. John the Baptist", "Sveti Stefan" in Nesebar, the complex "Hanska tent" and other attractions in the region through which the founder of the museum is trying to acquaint visitors with the rich history of Nessebar.
The museum has also a shop where the guests can buy honey, and a place for tasting food and drinks in which there is honey.
