The ruins of the fortress of Rusokastro (aka "The red fortress") are located at hill north-east from Jelyazovo village. The "red" in the name is because the red stones from which it was built.

The fortress walls were 2.5m wide. From the north and east there are steep rocks that made the fortress hard to be accessed.
