The rock phenomenon "Momata" ("The Lass") is situated in the western part of the Rhodopi mountain, about 1 km northwest of the village of Shiroka Laka. It was formed as a result of the erosion and the activity of the earth elements. The name of the rock origins from its shape - a slender female figure holding a distaff in her hand.
There is an interesting legend about the stone. According it the stone is a beautiful lass called Kanya, who turned into stone determined to save her faith and dignity from the ravishing Ottomans.
