The Belovska Basilica (aka Golyamobelovski Monastery "Vozkrasenie gospodne") is one of the best preserved early Christian churches in Bulgaria. It is located among the Northwest slopes of Rhodope Mountains, in the area "Mount St. Spas" (Spasovitsa), 10 km south of Belovo and about 1.5 km south-east of the village of Golyamo Belovo (Pazardzhik district).
The church dates-back to VI century and was part of the demolished late-antique and medieval town and fortress Levke. It was a three-nave basilica in Byzantine architectural style. In the XVII century, during the forced conversion to Islam of the Christian population from Velingrad region, the church was destroyed by the Turks.
Nowadays, near the remains of the old basilica, was built new church which is visited regularly by Christians from neighboring villages.
The Belovska basilica is declared monument of culture.
