2 km west of the village Rabovo, not far from the "Studen kladenets" dam, are located remnants of the medieval fortress "Asara". Fortress impresses with its strategic location and its skillful build into the inaccessible rocks, from where there is an excellent visibility to the entire region. Asara has had a leading role in Byzantium in the control and safeguarding of its land in the Eastern Rhodopes.

The Fort had walls with a height of 6 meters and 2 meters thick, built of stone blocks cemented with mortar. There were four huge rock towers that flanked it. In one of these towers was discovered a small cave, and beside it - graves. The interior of the castle was divided into two parts by another wall. The upper part was smaller in size, with towers. Today part of the  wall is fallen but is hale on the ground. At the bottom part were found preserved foundations of a constructions built with large square stones.
