The remains of the medieval fortress Krivgrad (aka "Kaleto") are located about 1.5 km south from the village of Karash, along Iskar river, near the road town of Roman - village of Karash - town of Pravetz. The Fortress is oriented east-west following the relief of the hill on which it was built.
After archaeological excavations in the beginning of XX century there have been discovered preserved walls of the north wall with thickness 1.3 meters and parts of а tower. From the South the castle was protected by the river and the steep side of the hill and therefore there is no wall. Most easily accessible the fortress was from the the East, and there were more turrets, built by stone and mortar.
In other excavations were found artifacts confirming the existence of life in these lands in III-IV century:
- Roman and Byzantine coins from the time of Aurelius Theodosius I, Justinian I, and others.
- Carved stone monuments and fragments with inscriptions.
- Nave basilica - altars dedicated to Hera, the Olympic gods, and Zeus and others.
