The Sherif Halil Pasha Mosque (more commonly known as the Tombul Mosque) in town of Shumen is the largest mosque in Bulgaria (just before the mosque in town of Razgrad) and second on the Balkans. It was built between 1740 and 1744 in the central for the that time part - nowadays south-western part of Shumen.
The name Tombul origins from the shape of the mosque dome - in Turkish Tombul means thick, inflated, plump.
