"Ibrahim Pasha" mosque in town of Razgrad is the third largest at the Balkans and the scond in Bulgaria (after Tombul mosque in Shumen). It was built in the period 1523-1536 by Bulgarian masters in order of Ibrahim Pasha (mosque named after him) - Grand Vizier of Sultan Suleiman I the Magnificent. After his death in 1536, the construction was stopped and the mosque was completed in 1616 by Mahmud Pasha.
After researches was ascertain that the mosque was built over ruins of an existing rectangular building (most probably a Christian temple). The roof of the mosque is covered with lead, and over the entrance there is a marble slab with a commemorative text: "Hey sons! Here, arose the sacred Mosque Ibrahim Pasha".
